An East Coast Wing

It's lovely when you realize you travel well together. It's fun to travel, but it's better when you have someone to share it with.

We had an adventure even trying to find the place we were staying. The lovely Miss Bea allowed us to stay at her place in Astoria while she was In San Francisco. It was wonderful. It was great getting to see her place too. It shows her personality, which is wonderful and artistic and made us feel right at home.

We spent days walking New York City, exploring the museums and cafes and parks. It was a million degrees but dressing light and drinking water helped a lot. As did the AC in the museums and a lot of frozen yogurt.

I'd say one of my favorite things was the Morgan Library. And another was the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit at the Guggenheim. Both were amazing. I could have spent days in those exhibits and not gotten bored.

New York was more than two weeks could have shown us, but we smiled and laughed and explored as much as we could in the time we had.

I owe Irwin one silver gilt Nef for his birthday. =P

Boston was beautiful too, and we really should have given it more time. We got to see the Mapparium, and we ate cannoli in North End, but we didn't get to dump tea in the harbor. We stayed in a hostel which was actually pretty cool. And next time we'll spend more time looking around for sure. There are a lot of things I'd love to see there. Of course, that just means we have more reason to return.

It was also fun seeing my family up in New Hampshire. It's so funny getting to see my cousins as little as I do, realizing they're growing up too. When did this happen?

The Great East Coast Adventure

The night before leaving on this great adventure, Irwin and I went out for Marni Thai with the lovely Misses Sophia and Bea. Delicious food that we had left overs of for breakfast as we watched the clock the next morning in anticipation; it time to leave for the airport.
Our flight was delayed due to the massive storms they've been having over the wast coast, so Irwin and I played chess in the cafe overlooking our departure gate, which clearly read out every new delay as "Delayed Weather". Eventually we also ended up circling for an hour outside New York as well. The captain announced at one point that we had enough fuel for about an hour and a half of circling and that after that we'd need to divert to refuel. But when we got on the ground the rain had left the air slightly cleaner.
We made it into Manhattan by rail and stumbled around Time Square looking at how it lit up the streets for blocks all around and how it was practically daylight in the square itself. Despite the late hour, or perhaps because of it, the whole area was full of people. Being a giant tourist spot in the middle of the Theater District, it's not surprising in the least. Also, the place is warm enough at night, during the day it's stifling.
