books, theories, and politics

Okay. So I sent out an email to some people about the scariness that is McCain and his VP candidate. If anyone would like to discuss it here they're welcome to, and it's preferred to reply-all emails.

In otherness, I finished re-reading The Golden Compass (by Philip Pullman) for the first time since 1997 and am currently marveling once again at it. I remember why I loved that trilogy and why, like with Nix's Abhorsen trilogy, I was completely transfixed as a child, waiting on pins and needles waiting for the next to come out.

It's interesting also reading this now, having just finished The Scar (by China Mieville) before it. They're both about Probability Theory (philosophical, not mathematical, though obviously super-related). Or, it's basically the central idea to the plots. The Probability Theory is about how for every possible outcome of any divergent moment there exists a reality in which each comes true, essentially creating infinite realities that may be similar or vastly different, and lie closer together depending on similarity. It's a concept that's played with by many writers and can be explained well by some. It's fun to see the different plots and characters that weave around it, helping the writer explore and project the theory so that the readers can understand.
If anyone has read these or other books that deal with the Probability Theory, I'd be interested in what they have to say!

Strange Landscapes

Stillbirthing Novels

I want to go someplace by the water with a blanket and a hot tea.
I have the words and the pictures on the tip of my mind, just out of reach.
And I've been working myself into a coma, where no energy is left to create.
No energy left to sleep.
Perhaps instead I SHOULD take my blanket down to the water and drink in the stars to sooth me with their burning reassurance. Burn the tense energy from me so I can relax again.

I've finally started drawing again recently. It's odd how sometimes you can feel like you're just realizing how completely you'd shut down. I'm continuing in grub phase, and hopefully soon I'll re-emerge as a fully fledged Julia-thing.
For the moment I'll sit and let my cat purr at me, then I'll go find my camera and try uploading some pictures. Maybe I'll write something more about recent too. I've seen some movies, heard some music. You know, stuff.

Oh yeah, the necklace is a Mark Poulin creation I got from him at the Jazz festival. He's pretty cool. You should check him out on etsy.

Back in New Hampshire again

Hey, so I'm back in NH, for my Aunt's wedding reception. It was a pretty good time! I'll upload pictures eventually. Maybe even soon.
I'm staying with my Uncle Larry and Aunt Sara and their adorable kids again. It's really fun getting to see them again so soon. Turns out while I was gone, Simon and Noah developed a penchant for making awesome adorable videos! Check them out!

My cousins are the super cute Korean ones. The one who MURdered the CIA agent's father, and the head of the thugs who he hired to do the agent in.

Yes, I'm still here

Don't worry. I'm still here.
I'll get better at responding soon I hope. I've been a little unwell. Hopefully it's a passing state of being. And passing quickly at that.

Anyways, till then, I offer a few pictures.
