Marin with a sandwich and a blanket for two

So Irwin and I went to Marin today. Sandwiches packed and a hopeful if somewhat skeptical raised eyebrow to the "Peace Tea" that looks like they jacked Arizona's cans.
We started by heading to the Marin County Civic Center building. It's a beautiful specimen of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. It also happens to be the building of Gattaca fame. I was not expecting the place to be quite so accessible, seeing as it houses the Superior Court of Marin and all of their administrative offices and such (although, it does house the library too, and that has to be accessible). I also wasn't expecting its roof to be quite so vividly BLUE. I guess either I missed that in the movie, they tweaked it, or it had been severely faded at the time of shooting. There is a really lovely little picnic area that you can reach from the end of the 4th floor and it has a pretty spectacular view. Unfortunately photos don't do the place justice, so I can't really share the place. But I guess this is true of most places. Especially places worth visiting.

We went to Muir Beach to watch the sun start its descent and play dodge the water, holding tight to the blanket that sheltered us from the wind and watching the waves crash incredibly evenly along the shore. The bench up on the cliff provided a good vantage point for people watching.
We made it to Sausalito in time to watch the sunset-pink clouds darken over the boats as we ate fish and chips on the waterfront.
